IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING

THE CCA POTOMAC DOWNRIVER RACE

The 58th Annual CCA Potomac Downriver Race is scheduled to occur Saturday, May 11, 2013.  Currently, the water level of the Potomac River is rising; however, based on analysis of the level predictions from NOAA and the National Weather Service, we are confident that the equivalent water level of the Potomac River at the anticipated start of the race on Saturday will be close to 7 feet on the Little Falls Gauge and falling quickly.

Due to these circumstances, the Race Chair, in consultation with Potomac Whitewater Racing Center and the Safety Chair for the Race, has decided to start the race at the Anglers put-in (near Old Anglers Inn) as opposed to at Great Falls National Park.  We will offer full refunds to any racers that do not want to race at this level or on this modified course.  Please contact the Race Chair to coordinate any refund.  We look forward to seeing everyone for a fantastic, fun, and fast race!

This event will happen rain or shine. We’ll clean up along the tow path between Locks 5 and 6, the Feeder Canal, and if time permits, heading upstream along the C&O Canal to just above Brookmont dam.

Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants for poison ivy, and use tick  repellent around your ankles as a precaution. This river cleanup is open to all ages, but young children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

**Students can earn SSL hours — all students under 18 will need a signed waiver (by parent / guardian) and the NPS will not permit cleanup without a signed waiver by everyone. Please contact me before April 6 if you need me to email a NPS waiver.**
