RACING PROGRAMS
There are two whitewater slalom racing programs in the metro-Washington area:
The Potomac Whitewater Racing Team is coached by Dana Chladek, two-time Olympic medalist in whitewater slalom. Under Dana’s tutelage, the Potomac Whitewater Racing Team provides coaching and training plans for adult and a youth team training to improve basic river skills and to prepare for local and national competitions.
The Valley Mill Slalom Team is the vision of Bruce Uthus, the slalom team’s coach, and began in 2007. The team has reached beyond Bruce’s goal of encouraging children to challenge themselves as competitive paddlers, and has become a place for them to learn to be a part of something bigger than themselves, to experience being a part of a team.
