Welcome to Potomac Whitewater Membership-2012
Potomac Whitewater Racing Center is a whitewater training center under the auspices of USA Canoe/Kayak (USACK). Membership dues help the PWRC provide financial support, training facilities, and coaching, to dedicated athletes training for whitewater competition. PWRC membership expires at the end of each calender year. Memberships purchased in anytime in December 2011 will run through December 31, 2012.
Potomac Whitewater Racing members will receive cards allowing them access to Dickerson. Pink Cards permit admittance to the course with a Potomac Whitewater Racing-certified coach. Blue Cards are for advanced paddlers having passed the Blue Card Dickerson test, allow unrestricted access with another blue card holder present. White Cards are for non-paddling drivers, usually parents of minors. Green Cards are for Potomac Whitewater Racing certified coaches and allow them to bring in prink card holders.
Benefits of Potomac Whitewater Membership:
- Access to Dickerson Whitewater Facility
- For athletes seriously training for competition, access to the David Taylor Model Basin. Please contact a Potomac Whitewater coach to apply.
- Access to the Brookmont Weight Room
- Slalom Racing Opportunities
- Support of the Feeder Canal and Dickerson Facilities
- Support of U.S. National and Olympic Teams
- 3 days free paddling and 10% off all programs at ASCI at the Wisp Resort, Maryland’s other artificial whitewater course
Potomac Whitewater Membership Rates:
- Junior (21 and under) $40 per year
- Senior (age 22 and over) $60 per year
- Non-paddling driver $10 per year
Additionally, participants in non-PWRC coached Dickerson programs will pay a $5 per day user fee. The fee will be collected by the program coach. Out-of town visiting racers and participants in the Blue Card program are exempt from this fee.
We no longer have a volunteer requirement for membership, but please do volunteer a few hours of your time in support of the club’s programs. The club’s goals will only be achieved with your help.
